One show I have been starting to watch lately ( because I finished the whole season of breaking bad and got nothing else to watch) is The Boys
For the uninitiated, the boys is a show about super heroes….who are supposed to be heroes but don’t act as heroes behind closed doors ( please I just started watching the first season, don’t fight me on this)
But, as the subject line suggests, I’ll be sharing with you a copywriting secret ( well not really a secret if you think about it) used by a character in the shower named Billy Butcher
So there was this guy named Huey, whose girl got ran through ( not that other ran through….you know which one, don’t act innocent) and killed by a super hero speedster named The A train
Devastated by the loss of his girl, he met up unintentionally with a guy named Billy Butcher who gave him an offer
I paraphrased:
“Huey….Huey, this is your one and only chance to. Once I go, I m gone. I m offering you an opportunity to get revenge on the man that killed your woman. What have you got to lose?”
Well…..Huey take the Offer?
You bet your grass he did…
But what was his secret?
Better question would be, what were his secret(s)
1) FOMO – fear of missing out on the opportunity
2) Making it unresistably easy for Huey to get what he wants
A list copywriters have used this secret for years and have been profiting from it and bank riches like Scrooge McDuck
And I think it can work like gangbusters on your emails
However, especially for secret Numero uno. It should come from a place of honesty , not some tactic.
I might give examples of these in the future because I didn’t wanna make this long
Do try putting the two in your offer and tell me what you think. After all, as Billy said, what have you got to lose
