5G Technology expected to boost India’s GDP by 2% by 2030
  • India has been the fastest country in the world to roll-out 5G services. Close to 2.70 lac 5G sites were setup within the first 9 months of introduction of 5G.
  • In the recently held IMC 2023, PM Modi did mention about setting up of 4 lac 5G base stations.
  • In partnership with Apollo Hospitals and Cisco, Bharti Airtel demonstrated the “5G Ready Ambulances” which cost around INR 7-7.5 lac and has the capability to bring emergency patient care to remote places of India.
  • Healthcare sector in India will create an addition $4 Billion GDP with the use of 5G based applications
  • Airtel has also partnered with L&T and CDAC to demonstrate 5G based applications that promote Smart Farming
  • India has close to 3.6 teachers to every 100 students and ranks among the lowest in the world. 5G is set to support the new education policy launched by India and also boost other educational initiatives like Atal Tinkering Labs
  • mmWave enabled 5G technologies will deliver an additional $150 billion benefits to Indian economy by 2040-50 and manufacturing sector is set to benefit the most (close to 20%)
  • Widespread implementation of Industrial automation will help manufacturing sector in India to increase its output capacity due to the availability of higher bandwidth.
  • The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) has tracked 37 industry 4.0 use cases across automotive, industrial equipment, food processing and pharmaceutical manufacturing where 5G will have a significant impact.
  • The government’s Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives will lay a foundation to have 5G led smart manufacturing processes in the country.

Recently, PM Modi awarded 100 5G Use Case Labs to different academic institutes of India to promote innovation and to develop different use cases in the area of 5G.
