The Two-letter Word That Doesn’t Roll Easily

A vowel-sounding, a two-letter word, spell-easy yet doesn’t roll easily off the tongue.

Why do we find it hard, almost upsetting even to say ‘no’ or its polite form, ‘no thanks’. It’s as if we’ve done the most heinous act. But really and truly, have we? Is the default a ‘yes’ ‘yes’ no matter what? Are options disenabled or greyed out?

It’s alright for us to set our boundaries, to protect our personal space. We don’t have to be on a guilt trip for not being able to offer a hand at the very moment. Of course, we shouldn’t use ‘no’ willy nilly as a weapon or utter it for the sake of saying ‘no’. That would be unethical.

Where you can, go on ahead and lend a hand nevertheless be comfortable to say ‘no’ should you need to, to uphold obligations to yourself.

Tongue-tied? No need to be any longer
