
Exam Anxiety makes you sweat, gives you a pit in your stomach and makes your mind go blank. A little tension and nervousness is required for us to perform our best in any phase of our lives, but exam anxiety beyond a point can disturb our whole system, be it, mental, physical or academics.
Here are a few tips to help you manage your exam anxiety:
- Be fully prepared from the beginning. Don’t leave anything for the last moment. Completing your syllabus timely and revising it are must.
- Nutritious food, proper sleep and regular exercise is a must to develop the right temperament to face the exams with full confidence.
- Be realistic and focused. Don’t overthink and just give in your best efforts without any expectations. Remember the saying-Do your best and leave the rest to GOD.
- Keep a positive mental attitude and have faith in GOD. You role is to do your best hard work and be consistent in your self study. Don’t think about negative outcomes.
- Avoid Comparisons. Every individual is different and everyone has a different journey. So, be honest with yourself and give your best inputs as per your potential. Don’t compare yourself with what others are doing.
- Discuss your doubts and concerns with your mentors and parents. Don’t let any issue become so big that it gets unmanageable. Discuss your problems with the right person at the right time.
- Give ample number of Mock tests to get an idea of the expected exam pattern and toughness. It will help you get familiar with the actual exam environment.
- Be punctual. On the day of the exam always reach much before the scheduled time. If the exam centre is not known to you, visit the same before the exam day to avoid any last minute hassles.
- Once inside the exam hall, read all the given instructions properly. Go through the entire paper to judge the exam level and to assess the kind and number of questions you are sure of. This planning is very important in the beginning.
- Right start is very crucial to develop your confidence and momentum. So first of all, solve a few questions you are really strong at. A few correct answers in the beginning will give you the required confidence to do your best.
- Keep a track of the time limit of the exam. Plan the paper in such a way that you have sufficient time for all the sections.
- Deep Breathing and Positive affirmations will help you in case of any tension or nervousness during the exam. Following a regular meditation routine during your preparation phase will keep you ready in case of any emergency.
