Achieving the Leica Look: Introducing the Leica Lux App

Many individuals would desire to possess a Leica camera, however, the high cost that comes with this esteemed brand can often be exorbitant. Now, with the advent of the new Leica Lux app, users can get the authentic “shot with a Leica” experience on a more affordable scale.

Leica Lux: A Glimpse into the World of Leica

Hyped as the “first-ever professional photo app from a camera manufacturer,” the Leica Lux allows users to replicate the distinctive Leica look using their smartphones. This innovative app opens the door to new possibilities in smartphone photography.

Users can experiment with various photo and portrait modes, accompanied by the option to select from an array of some of Leica’s most popular lenses, digitally reconstructed right on your device. The selection includes the Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2, Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4, and Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4. The app ensures consistent enhancement with the addition of new lens simulations and the inclusion of the unique Leica aesthetic bokeh, commonly known as a feigned bokeh effect.

ProRAW Capabilities and Classic Leica Looks

An added advantage of the Leica Lux app is the ability to capture all photos in ProRAW format, giving users the flexibility of prolonged editing and post-processing of these pictures as per their preference. Accompanying this function is a collection of adjustable filters that replicate the classic Leica aesthetics users admire. Among the collection are eleven unique looks to experiment with, including Leica Classic, Contemporary, Black & White, or Vivid.

While this innovation is inspiring, it’s currently available only for iPhone users. However, the Leica Lux app is accessible for free in the Apple App Store with the option of in-app purchases. The availability of a pocket-friendly substitute gives users who can’t bear the cost of a new iPhone 15 Pro Max or an actual Leica to still experience the distinguished Leica look without breaking the bank.
