NYC to release 8,000 free Macy July 4 fireworks tickets after website

New York Citys adds its going to do a re do of its Macy 4th of July fireworks show tickets giveaway after Wednesday planned failed because the website was inaccessible.

The city adds it will reopen website at 10 am on Thursday. They will be given on first come first served basis. There is limit of 2 per person.

The mayor office posted about website issues on social media Wednesday.

Spokesperson for Mayor Eric Adams said almost 2000 people were able to select ticket Wednesday. The city had touted a 10,000 ticket giveaway it has 8000 left.

To prevent another crash the city working with third party vendor to create waiting room and control various people visiting site at given time.

1 million people visited site within 5 minutes when it open on Wednesday.

The tickets will give people view of fireworks show from Pier 45 or Pier 84 on West Side.

This year first time after a decade that Macy’s fireworks show will be on Hudson River rather than the East River and it will be visible all along West Side Highway for all.

Here is list of entry points the public  will be able to use to reach viewing area.

Hoboken

  • Stevens Park
  • Pier A Park
  • Maxwell Place Park
